The Data Privacy & Protection Manager/VP is a position within the Chief Operating Office (COO) for the Global Finance organization. The mandate of COO is to lead – among other things - the Transformation efforts of the firm to deliver client excellence, improved operating efficiency and returns. As part of COO, the Finance organization is responsible for adhering to an enterprise-wide effort to transform and strengthen the firm’s data privacy, modernize its data infrastructure while simplifying the data operating model and executing the strategic priorities for the firm and in kind the Finance function’s role in that overall structure.

The Chief Data Office (CDO) defines and enforces data-related policies and standards across Citi and equips the firm (business and functions) with the tools required to take ownership and accountability for data governance and management. The CDO comprises of four functional groups: Business Aligned Data Leads, Core Data Delivery, Data Enablers, and Data Functions & Partners.

The Data Privacy & Protection Manager/VP is responsible for defining/operationalizing policies, standards, controls, and monitoring metrics/processes; setting minimum requirements for Finance adherence to Data Privacy & Protection policies and standards; providing enterprise tools and solutions designed to improve compliance oversight capability, reduce manual processes, and foster data privacy & protection by design.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with 2LOD stakeholders to adhere to set Enterprise Data Privacy & Protection obligations through Policies and Standards;
  • Monitor compliance to those Policies and Standards and manage exceptions;
  • Manage delivery obligations against the Tier 1 Regulation Ownership and Accountability Framework;
  • Manage Finance’s portion of the Enterprise Privacy data inventory, strategic governance metrics, and tooling;
  • Partner with 2LOD stakeholders to monitor applicable LRR change and facilitate impact assessments for Finance, as necessary;
  • Defines and resolves complex problems for Finance by looking beyond existing processes;
  • Requires specialized knowledge of Data Privacy related laws and regulations to provide advice to Finance leadership, stakeholders and senior governance forums, as necessary
  • Provides input (on behalf of Finance) into the overall strategy for Data Privacy standards. Coordinates with regional and local teams to facilitate management responses during review cycles to ensure adherence to Data Privacy Standards enterprise wide;
  • Establish and implement process and procedures for Finance adopting Citi Data Privacy policies, in compliance with all relevant regulations and respective function needs
  • Influences and negotiates with senior leaders (across functions); may assist with communications and negotiations with external parties (i.e., third party vendors);
  • Execute and champion a framework for governance of Data Privacy across the Finance organization, including the operating and accountability model promoting the following; 
  • Privacy by Design and drive improvements into the mechanics of how Finance will incorporate compliance and Privacy-by-design into its day-to-day operations;
  • Execute enterprise-wide risk reduction metrics and reporting framework, and/or embed Data Privacy culture throughout the Finance organization and role model the importance of Data Privacy governance across Finance;
  • Collaborate with partners/stakeholders across Finance to develop/implement solutions;
  • Implement practices that comply with data protection and privacy regulations;
  • Communicate the value of Data Privacy and its impact on the Finance to stakeholders;
  • Assist in the development of tools, trainings, templates, and other resources to be leveraged by Finance to support data privacy compliance;
  • Review Finance / business processes to ensure the best practices are followed around the handling and use of personal information;
  • Provide clear, accurate and timely reporting and escalations on privacy and data protection risks, risk mitigation measures and compliance activities for Finance;
  • Monitor corrective action and related remediation plans for Finance;

Qualifications:

  • 6-10 years of experience.
  • MS Excel, MS Access, SAS, SQL, Visual Basic a plus. 5+ years’ experience in financial services.
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective organizational influencing skills required.
  • Third party vendor management preferred. Demonstrated ability to lead global team efforts
  • Excellent problem-solving skills Ability to comprehend the big pictures with high attention to critical details
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategy and process improvement initiatives.

Education:

  • Bachelor's/University degree, Master's degree preferred.

Primary Location Full Time Salary Range:

$103,920.00 - $155,880.00
